Ferrisburgh Solar Farm

SE Group completed the permitting process for Ferrisburgh Solar Farm, a 1 MW solar field on an 8-acre parcel of land in Addison County, Vermont. The tract, adjacent to US Route 7 in Vermont and near a regional high school, was an excellent venue for hosting the facility—offering great solar exposure and good visibility for the public.

SE Group worked closely with Alteris Renewables and the Project’s legal team on addressing the visual and land development resource issues associated with the project and provided expert testimony to the Vermont Public Service Board. In August 2010, the project was awarded a Certificate of Public Good (CPG) to operate as the first large scale solar project in the State. The plant is now operational and providing power for upwards of 800 homes.

Project Highlights

Educational Opportunity

  • The site’s location adjacent to the high school provided a unique opportunity for development of an educational curriculum on solar energy production.
