Team

Mark Hamelin, Director of Resort Design
Mark serves as lead designer on many of our nationally and internationally recognized projects.  Deriving inspiration from the site, Mark has the ability to quickly grasp a project’s vision to create simple, yet elegant solutions to highly complex land planning problems. His ability to communicate and collaborate with a wide variety of professional consultants and stake holders allows our design process to be interactive, unique and exciting.

Mike Willard, Senior Associate
Michael is an integral member of our design, construction documentation, and management team with over 15 years of experience. As a LEED® Accredited Professional, he approaches each project with an environmental charter to encourage sensitive and responsible design. Michael’s broad technical skills and in-depth knowledge of materials and construction techniques allows him to guide client’s work through difficult design challenges. He has a wealth of knowledge and passion for exterior site lighting design, from pathways and sidewalks to urban streetscapes.

Adam Portz, Associate
Working as a Registered Landscape Architect and having a passion for outdoor adventures makes Adam a valuable member of the SE Group team. With over eight years of professional experience, Adam is well-versed; balancing a creative approach to master planning and site design with a solid technical foundation.

Expertise

We understand the fundamental importance of balancing people and the environment. All of our projects are built on a foundation of environmental planning, community involvement and consensus building. This collaborative nature allows us to generate design solutions that have broad support with solid thinking behind them.

We apply our skills to Civic Projects and Resort Design, often using 3D modeling, visual simulation techniques and illustrative graphics to communicate design intent in presentations and workshop sessions.

Master planning on difficult sites, careful design detailing and skill at leading public process have naturally led us to be enthusiastic about design for K-12 and Higher Education. Campus settings are an important civic amenity; a traditional gathering place. In most communities the public schools and associated Athletic Facilities and open spaces are defining elements of social and urban fabric and what create a unique sense of place. Our passion as designers is fueled by helping communities reconcile human needs and development with the natural setting and ecosystem.

We strive to incorporate elements of Sustainable Design into every project. Whether it’s working towards LEED certification or simply embodying our environmental philosophy, we work with you to determine what sustainability elements make sense and are a good fit with your project and budget. We then integrate these elements early in the design process in order to capture the maximum benefit and value for your project.

Our Landscape Architecture Studio participates in projects on many levels from lead consultant to production and graphic support, and as a team member in-house or in a sub-consulting role.

We assist our Environment and Entitlement Solutions specialists in the field, and provide detailed mitigation design for critical areas. We team with other SE Group specialists to provide integrated site planning that marries environmental planning with site design.

We employ our Resorts expertise to bridge the gap from master planning to actual construction while remaining true to the essence of your unique brand right down to the smallest design detail.
