Services: Resorts

Resorts are often distinguished by their unique and desirable characteristics, such as natural beauty, exceptional views, recreational opportunity, or simply an emotional connection. People visit resorts to re-create their souls, by spending quality time with friends and family, engaging in an activity they are passionate about or just submersing themselves in a relaxing, pampered environment.

SE Group has specialized in the planning and design of resorts in highly sensitive areas for more than 50 years. Our projects focus on environmentally fragile sites that are constrained by sensitive ecosystems, high elevations, steep slopes and wetlands. They are guarded by stakeholders with a passion for the place and an emotional investment in its future. SE Group’s resort planning expertise has been honed from years of working in these special places.

Planning and design of truly unique resorts requires a collaborative team with a keen sense of reality. We couple these attributes with a creative process that revolves around preserving and enhancing the landscape, reflecting the distinctive character inherent in a location, and developing a built environment that fits into the natural environment with a sense of balance, scale and harmony. Throughout our planning and design work we are focused on integrating building spaces into challenging terrain, optimizing recreational opportunities, encouraging pedestrian flow and movement, enhancing project vitality, maximizing real estate value, and working within budgets and real world constraints.

Expertise

Our Resort Master Planning and Design services range from broad-scale master plans for undeveloped pieces of property to detailed landscape architecture and construction administration. We have planned resorts on the sun-bathed beaches of the Mediterranean and amongst the glaciers of Alaska.

Ski Area Planning and Design is the historic cornerstone of SE Group. Our ski area designs, tested through market and economic feasibility studies, are based on detailed map work and thorough on-the-ground reconnaissance that allow us to capitalize on the unique features of each site.

The lands sitting at the toe of the ski slopes, on the beachfront, or at the epicenter of a view corridor hold the most value and help define a resort’s character. SE Group’s Resort Site Planning and Design team focus on these critical areas by providing long-range development strategy, site planning, ski in/ski out real estate design, building programming, and operations and circulation studies. We work with facilities ranging from day-use areas to large four-season destination resorts.

Our Market and Economic Analysis specialists provide strategic evaluations for the profitable development and operation of resort properties. Through our extensive experience in planning, designing and operating four-season resorts, we know what questions to ask and which studies to perform in order to help our clients make informed decisions about future opportunities.

SE Group always works from the basis that planning sets the stage for implementation. At Project Implementation, our signature designs are transformed into capital cost estimates, construction documentation, field layout of facilities, and detailed grading, surface water management and other implementation plans.
