Environmental Analyst & Planner
Overview
SE Group is seeking an Environmental Analyst & Planner to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing team that specializes in permitting and environmental analysis for places that are shaped by a strong natural resource base, visitation and tourism, or access to the outdoors and public lands. Our project work is extensive and includes some of the most beautiful recreation destinations (National Forests, ski resorts, mountain bike parks) in the country. We like to think we have the best site visits!
This position is designed for candidates that are relatively new to the environmental planning and permitting field and provides opportunities for growth. If you have a background in natural resources, forestry or environmental policy, and love recreation– we want to hear from you!

Position Priorities
This position will be focused on supporting environmental review, planning, and engagement for our Mountain Resorts clients. As part of the Environmental Services team, this position will work closely with project managers and staff while contributing to all facets of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) environmental documentation process.
The key responsibilities include:
- Writing and editing documents such as scoping notices, Environmental Assessments, and Environmental Impact Statements
- Researching and analyzing project-specific resource issues
- Preparing public involvement materials and supporting public engagement
- Reading and summarizing technical scientific documents
- Maintaining the project records and coordinating public events/feedback
Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree in biological or natural resources, environmental science/policy, planning, forestry or another related field. A Master’s degree in a similar field is preferable. We will prioritize candidates that have 0-3 years of professional experience working on environmental or public lands regulations and/or in natural resource management.
Other required skills and experience include:
- Excellent writing skills – this position requires you to be able to write concisely and objectively (show us your skills in your cover letter!)
- Prior experience in data management or data analysis – can you use data to tell a story?
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities at once, often with varying scales/scopes – this work will require you to be highly organized
- An entrepreneurial spirit – you don’t just “do the job”
- Demonstrated ability to achieve high results in an independent work setting – key in our hybrid office setting
- Preferred: experience with mapping or spatial data software (e.g. GIS)
Note on location: candidates that are based near our hubs in Colorado and Utah will be preferred. However, we are open to candidates nationally that share our passions for public lands.
What You Can Expect from Us
- The anticipated salary range for this position is between $55,000 and $65,000, depending upon qualifications, experience, and location.
