SE Group is seeking a Staff Accountant to join our office in Salt Lake City. This position is an exciting opportunity to join the small but mighty Finance & Operations team for a company that is an industry leader in outdoor recreation planning, design, and permitting. What You’ll Do
The Staff Accountant will execute the day-to-day accounting processes of SE Group. This position will report to our Accounting Manager and can also expect to collaborate with the leadership team of each of our market sectors as they work to ensure the highest level of financial operations and reporting for the company.
The key responsibilities include:
- Accurately prepare and code cash receipts/disbursements for day-to-day financial transactions
- Input vendor/subconsultant information and code individual invoices
- Categorize employee and credit card expenses as needed
- Assist with payroll processing and maintain accurate employee records
- Support in the preparation of monthly journal entries and account reconciliations, maintaining meticulous financial records
- Participate in the preparation and processing of monthly client invoices
- Assist with month-end processing and account review
- Utilize accounting software and tools efficiently, staying updated on new features and technologies
- Collaborate with Accounting Manager & CFO with special projects
What We’re Looking For
Experience: This position is primarily designed for candidates that have 3-5 years of professional bookkeeping/accounting experience.
Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or similar degree in financial management.
Skills & Traits:
- Demonstrated excellence in accounting and financial management, preferably for a similar professional services company (project-based work)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with highest standards for being detail-oriented and organized
- Payroll experience, including quarterly and annual payroll reporting
- Experience with Unanet (preferred) or other accounting-based software
- High-level of proficiency with Microsoft 365 programs and advanced expertise in Excel
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a dynamic environment
- Demonstrated ability to quickly learn various tax and compliance regulations in new geographies
Location: we will be prioritizing candidates that can regularly work out of our office in Salt Lake City, Utah.

- The anticipated salary range for this position is between $60,000 and $70,000, depending upon qualifications and experience.
