Tamarack Resort

Tamarack Resort
A mountain range

The concept of developing a new mountain resort on the west side of Lake Cascade in Donnelly, Idaho was first conceived in the late 1980s. The resort project was originally referred to as “Valbois” and the ski terrain was envisioned on National Forest System lands. Given the regulatory challenges of developing a brand-new ski resort on the National Forest, SE Group developed an alternative that shifted the ski development to adjacent State of Idaho lands. Soon thereafter, the project obtained the necessary approvals from the State and other agencies, and in December of 2004, Tamarack Resort opened to the public.

Tamarack is now an independently owned, all-season mountain destination, and over the 35+ years since it was first conceived, SE Group has continued to be a trusted member of the team, advising on master plan updates, on-mountain design, guest services programming, village development, and environmental strategy.

In 2020, SE Group partnered with Bull Stockwell Allen on the latest update to the resort’s Master Development Plan. Project site design goals include curating a sense of arrival, energizing the village with a range of programming, integrating the new gondola bottom terminal, providing connections to and through the village, integrating a new flagship hotel, elevating the guest experience, and designing for four season programming.
