Pete Williams Discusses Comfortable Carrying Capacity in SAM MAGAZINE

The May issue of Ski Area Management (SAM) magazine features an article on “The Question of Capacity” by SE Group’s Director of Mountain Planning, Pete Williams.

In this article, Pete breaks down what comfortable carrying capacity (CCC) is, the factors that are used to calculate CCC, how it is used by resorts to create a desired experience for their guests, as well as balance of facility usage, such as parking, lodging, terrain and to ensure respectful use of the land. The article also dives into how a mountain resort’s CCC can be used to effectively plan with the surrounding communities for alignment of regional planning capacity metrics.
