Cumberland Plateau Outdoor Recreation Plan

The Outdoor Economy Plan was created for the Cumberland Plateau Planning District in collaboration with Friends of Southwest Virginia. This region spans 1,848 sq miles and has a population of approximately 102,000 residents. The plan identifies strategies to boost the outdoor recreation economy, attract visitors, and enhance the quality of life for residents.

The plan was developed through meetings with stakeholders and site visits to over 25 destinations. It includes four accompanying guidebooks that ensure all communities have access to recommendations related to economic and recreation development initiatives.
